Update: The SimpliSafe Amex Offer is back on certain cards until 3/2/2018. Unfortunately Simplisafe is no longer listed as a partner on JetBlue’s partner page however.
Both JetBlue and AmericanExpress have offers currently that can making getting a new home alarm with SimpliSafe a great deal if you stack the offers. The SimpliSafe JetBlue offer has recently been upped to 10,000 TrueBlue points. The SimpliSafe AmexOffer is giving $100 back when you spend $400 or more. If you combine these offers the return can be quite lucrative!
For those not familiar, SimpliSafe is a somewhat recent startup that aims to take on alarm companies the way Netflix has taken on cable companies. No long term contracts, easy DIY installation, and lower costs. It is certainly is intriguing and the Amazon reviews sound about 20x better than those for traditional alarm companies.
SimpliSafe JetBlue Bonus Points Offer
JetBlue and SimpliSafe teamed up together in March to form the SimpliSafe JetBlue partnership. At the time there was an offer to earn 6,500 points with the purchase of a new system. Now the partner offer has been increased to earn 10,000 TrueBlue points with a purchase!
Luckily the terms and conditions are straightforward and easy to understand:
SimpliSafe offer valid only for active TrueBlue members who purchase a new SimpliSafe system that includes at least one (1) Base Station, one (1) Keypad and one (1) Additional Sensor through this online campaign and provide valid TrueBlue member information. Not valid with any other offers. TrueBlue member must enter their TrueBlue information into the required form. TrueBlue number may not be applied retroactively to any SimpliSafe purchase. Members may not return their SimpliSafe system within the first 60 days after purchase to receive points. All points will be posted to member accounts within 12 to 14 weeks. SimpliSafe Terms of Sale and all other applicable SimpliSafe, JetBlue and TrueBlue Terms and Conditions apply.
The average value of JetBlue points, according to Doctor of Credit, are 1.41¢ each. So 10,000 TrueBlue points are worth around $141. If you only need the minimum equipment for the offer you’d be spending around $200. Meaning this is an excellent return. However it’s likely for a thorough home security system you’d be needing more than one sensor alone. Enter the SimpliSafe AmexOffer…
Right now there is also a widely targeted SimpliSafe AmexOffer out! This AmexOffer gives you $100 back on a purchase of $400 or more. I have this offer on 3 of my cards meaning it’s likely you have this on one of your cards as well!
Using both offers
You can very easily stack these offers simply by providing your TrueBlue number at checkout and using your American Express card to pay for the purchase. All you need to do is spend $400 or more. Let’s say (hypothetically) you spent exactly $400:
- Spent $400
- Receive 10,000 TrueBlue points worth $141
- Receive $100 back from AmericanExpress
- Total return of $241 or 60%
Now of course, if you just need the bare minimum for your home to get the JetBlue offer, and don’t even worry about the AmexOffer, you would spend around $200 and receive $141 back in points. A return of 70.5%!
SimpliSafe Bottom Line
Sadly I’m stuck in one of those horrible alarm contracts with one of the big companies on my own home. However, SimpliSafe sounds intriguing and could be a great solution for many folks looking to escape the traditional alarm companies.
