My IHG Accelerate Offer Just Got Better: Kimpton!

I’ll be honest, I was rather disappointed in my 2018 IHG Accelerate offer. While some people reported offers up to 75,000 points, mine came in at a rather low 36,200. Nonetheless, I had at least a few IHG stays planned for this year, so I went ahead and signed up. As we speak I’m in the middle of a stay at Holiday Inn Express Waikiki which will fulfill my third “task” and earn 7,200 bonus points.

My 2018 Progress

My IHG Accelerate Offer Just Got Better: Kimpton!

While the 7,200 point bonus is nice, the rest of my offer isn’t that great. It’s a series of 3,000 bonuses up to the aforementioned 36,200 after 19 total nights. I value IHG points right around .06 cents each, so chasing 3,000 point bonuses isn’t all that exciting to me.

Today I got an interesting email from IHG that really sweetens my Accelerate offer. IHG is offering me 10,000 bonus points to complete one stay at a Kimpton property. Here’s a screenshot of the details:

IHG, now you’ve got my attention! 10,000 bonus points for a simple one night stay is a great offer for any major hotel loyalty program; even Hilton! Kidding aside, I’ll have to squeeze a Kimpton stay in before April 30th when my offer ends. While Kimpton is on the higher end of the IHG brand, it’s usually possible to find their properties in the $150/night range. Of course every market is different, so you may have to search a little bit for the best rates.

Bottom Line

Kudos to IHG for coming through with this offer. While my original Accelerate bonus was rather underwhelming, this is a great make-up offer. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to access any further details about the 10,000 Kimpton bonus on my IHG account offers page. Presumably this is a targeted offer. My suggestion would be to monitor and search your email to see if you get anything similar.
