I received an email from Choice Hotels the other day announcing it’s “Tap The App” Sweepstakes. It’s no secret that Choice Hotels isn’t the most glamorous hotel chain out there. The most popular Choice brands are Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, and Sleep Inn with several other budget brands under it’s umbrella. That being said, Choice points are easy to accrue and the brand features a higher end group of hotels called the “Ascend Collection”. In my experience these aren’t luxury properties, but are a bit nicer than their standard brands. Furthermore, Choice has a rewards exchange program which allows members to transfer Choice points to several different airlines including United and Southwest.
Tap The App Sweepstakes
My email indicated users could open up the app everyday for a chance to win the grand prize of 400,000 points. Additionally, Choice is giving away 100,000 points to 10 lucky winners each week. Opening a phone app and tapping it seemed easy enough, right? Wrong.
Upon opening the Choice Hotels app, logged in users are presented with a button to “Tap The App”. Upon doing that, you’re taken to an entry form that requires the following information be manually filled out (on your phone of course):
- First Name
- Last Name
- Choice Privileges Numbers
- Age Verification
- reCAPTCHA human verification
Mercifully, after entering all that, you’re entered for that days entry. Want to try your luck again tomorrow? You’re going to need to enter all that information again. No thanks, I’ve got better things to do.
Bottom Line: “Tap The App” Sweepstakes
Unless you really enjoy contest entry forms, go ahead and sit this one out. Choice presumably already has all of my information as a Choice Privileges member. Why make their members enter all that stuff on a daily basis? At a minimum, couldn’t they have auto-populated my information? Starwood often has contests that require one or two clicks to enter. Most Sundays during football Season, Marriott is giving away 1,000 points for sending a quick tweet. Choice, why are you making this so difficult?
