Virgin America cards closing, Phantom Delta space, FlyingBlue awards, and more!

Typically in airline mergers your credit card will be converted to a different product. However the Virgin America card is being closed entirely on January 1st due to the merger with JetBlue. If you are a Virgin America cardholder check out the FAQ’s for more info.

There’s nothing more frustrating than finding award space for your big trip and then discovering it is “phantom” award space and doesn’t actually exist. This is a common problem with many airlines unfortunately, and now you can add Delta showing fake China Eastern space to that list.

FlyingBlue is one of the easiest programs to transfer credit card points to. Plus, they have FlyingBlue promo awards every month where you can often score discounted awards in coach or business class. Check out what awards are on sale for October.

In today’s flight deal of the day, fly JetBlue from San Francisco to New Orleans for $264.
