Generous JetBlue Delayed Flight Compensation to Travel Bank

Travel can be really glamorous! Or it can be like Ben’s Newark nightmare. Unfortunately neither Ben or I are having great luck with New York area airports recently. This week I had a 4 hour JetBlue delayed flight and was able to see how JetBlue handles their delays. What was most impressive is how they automatically and quickly provided compensation to my JetBlue Travel Bank account.

JetBlue Delayed Flight Background

I was looking forward to flying JetBlue due to free wi-fi, seat-back tv’s, good legroom, etc. I clearly jinxed myself.

As these things normally go with delayed flights, I didn’t receive the notice until I was already headed to the airport. After arriving at the airport I was hoping they may find a solution, since JFK is a JetBlue hub and all. Sadly there was no hope. The plane had a mechanical diversion then the crew had timed out and the plane was still sitting on the ground in Fort Lauderdale.

JetBlue did provide waters, sodas, and snacks to the entire gate area during the delay. While not amazing it was a nice gesture.

Once we finally boarded we took off almost 4 hours late. After connecting to the free wi-fi I was pleased to see JetBlue had already sent an apology! And said a $75 credit would be arriving in my account shortly.

Delayed JetBlue Flight Apology and Credit

I had not realized that JetBlue has a very generous and proactive compensation policy. Their Bill of Rights clearly outlines the automatic compensation and here are the details:

Bottom Line

JetBlue leads the pack for domestic economy experience for a reason. Delays are no fun but it was handled as best as possible. I do always question how in a hub nothing can be done to re-assign a plane but ultimately I am very satisfied with their compensation policy and am flying JetBlue again next week!
